Brampford Speke Summer Fair

BRAMPFORD SPEKE HOSTS SUMMER FAIR ON SATURDAY JUNE 19TH 2010

Brampford Speke near Exeter will be hosting a traditional village Summer Fair on Saturday 19th June 2010, from 12 – 4pm.

The fair will take place at Chamberlains Farm and will have a variety of stalls, organised children's activities and events, from a coconut shy to tombola, face painting and children's fancy dress competition.  In addition, St Peter's Church will display a collection of antique agricultural items and there will be home baking, art and creative gardening competitions. The village will also be home to a 'pop-up' cafe during the day using locally sourced produce for sandwiches, cream teas, cakes and refreshments.

Funds raised from the event will be split between St Peter's Church, Brampford Speke

C of E Primary School and Brampford Area Pre-School.

The fun will continue into the evening with a Village Dance at 8pm until 12.00am for adults only in the village hall with a bar, band and burgers. Entry to the event on the night costs £4.00 per adult.

Karen May, the fair's co-coordinator and Chairman of Friends of Brampford Speke School said, “ We are all looking forward to putting on a fantastic family event in our beautiful village. There will be something for everyone, from young to old and a delicious village cafe using local produce. To top it all, the money raised will benefit our community”.

About 'FRIENDS'

‘Friends of Brampford Speke School’ is a registered charity run mostly by parents to raise money for the school through an annual calendar of social events and activities.

From art shows to school quiz nights, breakfasts to more specific children’s events, we not only aim to raise funds but also to bring parents, children and the wider community together to strengthen and celebrate the school and village of Brampford Speke.

Although we have a small operational committee, we welcome the involvement of everyone who has any links to the school. Meetings take place once every half term (generally in the village pub) and everyone is invited to come along. Look out too for our newsletters distributed via the book bags at school giving details of events and meetings.

The Story So Far….

Easy Fundraising

We have discovered a great way to raise funds through internet shopping at your favourite stores e.g. Next, Amazon, Marks and Spencer and many more. Details of how to do this are below. This could raise a significant amount of money for Friends for minimal effort so please tell all your family and friends!!

1. Go to the website address www.easyfundraising.org.uk/brampfordspekesch
2. Register your email address and a password for the site - the charity/organisation section should already be filled in as Brampford Speke Friends
3. You should get a 'welcome' message on the screen - your log in name and the total you've raised should appear in the top left of the screen
4. Search for companies you want to shop with on the left side of the screen and follow the links to the store - you must follow the links from the easy fundraising site
otherwise your purchase won't benefit Friends
5. Do your shopping!
